"Darth Vader's summer home,"
"It's the only clean space I've ever been in,"
"At this point, my eyes get all wiggly if I work for more than five hours,"
"There's always this feeling in winter, especially in Montreal, that you can die out here if you're not careful,"
Ferguson moved into a newly renovated, minimalist studio shared with a photographer, featuring black floors, white walls, and black furniture. The studio is a half-hour walk from his home, enabling daily walking exercise and focused work time from late afternoon to early evening. He limits sessions because his eyes tire after about five hours. His imagery draws on pop-culture influences like Star Wars and Blade Runner and often merges surface and hidden worlds. Examples include a clawed, bloodied merman amid jellies and icebergs and a snowbound, worm-like predator reflecting harsh winter vulnerability in Montreal.
