Cannes Film Festival proceeded with few disruptions and largely avoided Hollywood, focusing instead on global filmmakers. The main A-list presence came from James Gray’s 1980s-set New York gangster film Paper Tiger, starring Miles Teller and Adam Driver, while Scarlett Johansson skipped the premiere and did not respond during the standing ovation. Minotaur by Andrey Zvyagintsev won the Grand Prix, set during Russia’s 2022 invasion and centered on a man convinced his wife is cheating, following his own recent life upheavals and facing a Russian ban.
