"Joel Silver came and had a conversation with me, and he's like, 'The reason your name isn't above the titles is because you're not the star of this thing - it's Jodie. And if you get nominated for an Oscar, it's going to be for Supporting Actor, not Best Actor,' and I was like, 'Thank you for telling me that, now I understand. But, you have to remember that I'm a man just like you, and if you ever talk to me in that way again, I'm going to knock your teeth out of your mouth.'"
"Howard pointed out that Silver's producing partner on The Brave One just happened to be Susan Downey, the wife of his Iron Man co-star Robert Downey Jr. 'Eight months later, I lose Iron Man,' Howard said."
Terrence Howard, who played James 'Rhodey' Rhodes in the first Iron Man film, claims he lost the role in Iron Man 2 due to an angry confrontation with producer Joel Silver. During the Venice Film Festival in 2007, while promoting The Brave One, Howard became frustrated after being questioned about his billing compared to co-star Jodie Foster. When Silver approached him to explain the billing hierarchy, Howard allegedly threatened to knock out the producer's teeth. Howard notes that Silver's producing partner was Susan Downey, wife of his Iron Man co-star Robert Downey Jr. He states that eight months after this incident, he lost the Iron Man role.
