Sinners earned 16 nominations at the 98th Academy Awards, breaking the previous record of 14 held by Titanic and All About Eve. One Battle After Another received 13 nominations. Sinners earned nominations across every technical category, including Editing, Costuming, Visual Effects, Score, and Production Design, and would have still broken the record without an Achievement in Casting category. Costume designer Ruth E. Carter earned her fifth nomination, becoming the most-nominated Black woman in any category; her prior wins were for both Black Panther films. Autumn Durald Arkapaw became the first woman of color nominated for cinematography. Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo, Wunmi Mosaku, Ryan Coogler, and Zinzi Coogler also received first-time major nominations.
