Science Museum unveils blockbuster IMAX 70mm season on one of Europe's largest screens
"The Science Museum has released details of its IMAX movie season for the months ahead, where they show films on one of Europe's largest cinema screens. Apart from its screen size, the cinema is also one of only two screens in Europe to be able to offer films on either an IMAX Laser 4K projector or the classic 70mm film projector."
"All the screenings are at 7:15pm, so you also get to walk through the museum while it's empty to get to the cinema. Seats are £20 for standard and £23 for premium places. There's also some cheaper restricted view seats - and in a reversal of most theatres, the restricted views are the ones closest to the screen - because it's so big you can't see the whole screen without looking left-right all the time. Good for the neck muscles though."
The Science Museum's IMAX cinema projects films on one of Europe's largest screens and can use either an IMAX Laser 4K or a classic 70mm film projector. The venue is staging a season of full 70mm films shot on triple-size negatives to ensure high image quality on very large screens. All screenings start at 7:15pm, allowing visitors to traverse the museum while it is empty en route to the cinema. Standard seats cost £20 and premium seats £23, with cheaper restricted-view seats located closest to the screen. Scheduled screenings include Apollo 13, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Interstellar on listed dates.
