At Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, it was announced that Ryan Gosling will star in the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy. Scheduled for release on May 28, 2027, the film will be set around five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Unlike previous installments, Starfighter is designed as a standalone story and not part of a trilogy. The screenplay will be penned by Jonathan Tropper, known for his collaboration with Levy on The Adam Project.
