'Another Simple Favor' is a poorly executed sequel that revisits characters from the original film. Despite the picturesque setting of Capri, the plot lacks coherence, with plot points like Emily's unexplained release from prison leaving viewers confused. Previous character dynamics are ignored, and motivations appear nonsensical. The film turns into a visual spectacle without a grasp on narrative, resulting in a film that seems driven by the desire for a luxury retreat, rather than storytelling ambition.
My main issue with 'Another Simple Favor' is that it exemplifies what I call a Location Vacation Movie—horribly written, yet the cast must be drawn by the stunning scenery.
The original ended with Emily going to jail without much closure, and this sequel fails to provide any clarity on her pardon or why the characters reunite.
