Robert Zemeckis's debut film, 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand,' is an underrated gem set in the heart of Beatlemania in 1964. The movie, while a box office flop, beautifully depicts the madness of teenage fandom through a group of teenagers trying to meet The Beatles during their legendary appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. This delightful comedy not only highlights the exuberance and obsession of youth but also serves as a nostalgic reminder of the magical experience of being a fan, resonating even with newer generations.
But it's not Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, nor any of the usual suspects who've secured spots on IMDb's all-time favourites lists that I return to when I need a pick-me-up.
Set in 1964, it's as much a madcap comedy romp as it is a sincere ode to fangirls, capturing a day in the life of a riotous group of teenagers in the grip of full-blown Beatlemania.
