Original stars of 'The Sound of Music' thrilled to see film last as fan favorite for 60 years
"It's not boring, not any part of it anywhere. I mean, it keeps your attention going the whole time. There's emotion, there's singing, there's happiness, there's scary. You know, I think it just has the whole gamut,"
"It's an iconic movie!"
"And we didn't know when we were filming the movie that it would be so evergreen and span so many generations. But it has. And we're very grateful for that, that it still has this magic that it had before."
"She was wonderful on set -- warm, loving, comforting, entertaining. And you can see in the 'My Favorite Things' scene how much Debbie and I are gazing at her adoringly,"
The Sound of Music received a new restoration and is now available for home viewing in 4K Ultra HD digital and Blu-Ray. The restoration includes remastered sound and visuals restored frame by frame for sharper, clearer, and brighter imagery at 24 frames per second. Bonus content includes a sing-along version. Three actresses who played von Trapp children recalled the film as emotionally varied, attention-holding, and evergreen across generations. The actresses praised Julie Andrews as warm and captivating. The director Robert Wise is credited with a clear vision for every scene. The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of this ABC station.
