The National Board of Review Gala took place at Cipriani on 42nd Street in Manhattan with many major Hollywood figures attending. "One battle after another" won best film and Leonardo DiCaprio won best actor. Ryan Coogler won the prize for best original screenplay for Sinners and is emerging as an Oscar frontrunner. Coogler described the rewards of completing the script, assembling his crew, bringing people to New Orleans, sharing the screenplay with Rosemary and receiving feedback, and showing the movie to audiences. Voting for Oscar nominations began on Monday and the Oscars air March 15 on ABC.
