'My good-luck charm' - 'The Snapper' baby welcomes newborn of her own
Alannagh McMullan, known for playing newborn Georgina Curley in The Snapper, welcomed her second child at the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street, Dublin. She said The Snapper was on television during the weekend of her first baby and again on the Friday before this birth. Her son, Jamie Dalton, arrived on Sunday night at 10.48pm, weighing just shy of 7lbs 12oz. McMullan described growing up watching the video of her on-screen birth scene and said she will show the film to both children as a cool memory. She said being born in Holles Street and now having another baby born by The Snapper creates a full-circle moment.
"“The weekend I had my first baby, The Snapper was on TV and then again, this Friday, it was on TV. This little man arrived, so it's obviously my good luck charm.”"
"“I used to have the video [of The Snapper scene] and I used to watch it. I definitely was too young to be watching it, but I'd watch it on repeat, and just replay myself all the time. But it was amazing to see at the weekend as well because there are so many resemblances of myself now that I see in him and in our first baby.”"
"“It's just a really cool memory to have to see yourself being born, even though it wasn't real. I think I was covered in Vaseline and food colouring at the time, is what I was told. It's a full-circle moment that I was born in Holles Street and I was the baby in The Snapper and now they've another little baby born by The Snapper,” Ms McMullan said."
"“In 1993, Alannagh McMullan made her acting debut as baby Georgina when Sharon Curley gave birth in Roddy Doyle's film The Snapper,” they said."
