Dubbed "an addictive masterpiece" by The New Yorker, The Clock earned Marclay a reputation as a singular Pop Art synthesist; the following year, the film earned him the coveted Golden Lion award at the Venice Biennale."

Doors (2022) is a 54-minute cinematic collage by Christian Marclay installed in the Brooklyn Museum's Moving Image Gallery and co-purchased with the Hirshhorn. The work assembles hundreds of spliced film moments focused on characters entering and exiting interstitial spaces, creating recurring clips that produce a cyclical, musical quality. Doors extends the temporal and visual strategies of The Clock while concentrating on thresholds, sight and sound connectivity, and diverse bodies, eras and dialects. Reverend Joyce McDonald receives a first museum survey at the Bronx Museum (5 September–11 January 2026), having discovered ceramics after an HIV diagnosis in 1995 and early art therapy through the Jewish Board.
