Acorrding to Tagawa's family, he died in the morning of December 4 due to complications from a stroke. He became best known for portraying the sorcerer Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat, reprising the role in Mortal Kombat: Legacy and lending voice and likeness to Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat: Onslaught. He also played Heihachi Mishima in two Tekken films and appeared in The Man in the High Castle and the Netflix anime Blue Eye Samurai.
