Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World received a US 4K Blu-ray release as a Limited Edition Steelbook that sold out quickly on Amazon, which is now accepting orders for replenished stock. The Steelbook represents the only US 4K Blu-ray release, while a region-free standard edition with a slipcover was released in Europe and appears in the US only through third-party sellers at higher prices. The earlier two-disc DVD contained more and deeper special features and documentaries, but that edition has been out of print and remaining copies can be expensive. The film adapts Patrick O'Brian's novels and remains well regarded for its naval battles and performances.
