"Very, very early in my career, an actor I worked with, a male actor, gave me a book called French Women Don't Get Fat, and it was essentially a book telling you to eat less."
"F*** you, dide!"
"Even if you are the one who should be dictating the decisions, they turn to the closest, eldest male in the room and direct the question at them. It's just an inherent thing everyone has got in their DNA."
Margot Robbie, 35, is promoting the film Wuthering Heights opposite Jacob Elordi. Early in her career a male co-star gave her the weight-loss book French Women Don't Get Fat, which promotes eating less and targets women needing to lose up to thirty pounds. Robbie said the gift was meant to signal she should lose weight and recalled responding angrily. She described the incident as very long ago and said she does not know where the actor is now. Robbie has previously criticized ingrained sexism on film sets and noted decisions often default to the eldest male in the room. Wuthering Heights has received largely negative reviews.
