"She was very nice to me. [A] generous, generous artist and a very special, unique person."
"It was cool to be able to see her and Jack Nicholson together. Just with the history they shared and the fondness and love they had for each other. It's really cool."
"Whoa. Maybe they did end up together."
"At times over those years, she felt like a sister because we shared so many truly memorable experiences. As a film-maker, I've lost a connection with an actress that one can only dream of."
Diane Keaton died in California on Saturday aged 79. Keanu Reeves paid tribute on the red carpet at a New York screening of Good Fortune, calling her very nice and a generous, unique artist. Keaton and Reeves co-starred in Nancy Meyers' 2003 romcom Something's Gotta Give, in which Keaton played a playwright torn between a young doctor and an older lothario played by Jack Nicholson. Reeves recalled the history and fondness between Keaton and Nicholson. Nancy Meyers described Keaton as a friend of almost 40 years and like a sister and said she had lost a dream connection as a filmmaker. Keaton had been out of the public eye for about a year and her illness was not widely known. Woody Allen published an essay calling the world drearier without her.
