"I don't like the nepo baby term because these kids are not getting a leg up,"
"[Joe] would say to me, 'I don't want people to think that this film is just being made because you're my mom,'"
"Both of them have separately carved their own paths and been able to do that, and part of it actually is teaching them to ignore the white noise of silly terms like nepo baby, which you can't really do anything about."
Kate Winslet rejects the 'nepo baby' label and argues that fame does not automatically provide job advantages for her children. Her eldest son, 21-year-old Joe Anders, wrote the screenplay for Goodbye June, which will hit Netflix on December 24. Anders collaborated with Winslet on the film, and family concern about perceptions of nepotism was acknowledged. Winslet emphasizes that children often gravitate toward parental careers but still need to earn jobs and respect from peers. Two of her three children have already made Hollywood debuts. Winslet urges ignoring the "white noise" of the nepo baby label.
