Jack Black and Paul Rudd Attempt to Remake Anaconda in Extremely Meta Trailer
"Doug and Griff have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie: the cinematic 'classic' Anaconda," reads the official logline. " When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they're dying to make? It might just get them killed..."
"After securing a loan for less than $10,000, Doug (Black) and Griff (Rudd) spring into action alongside Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn. They acquire a riverboat for the shoot, write the script, and hire a snake handler for their very real snake. The only problem? As total amateurs, nobody has any idea of what they're doing, and the crew is forced to set out for the Amazon to figure it out."
Two longtime friends finance a shoestring remake of the 1997 cult film Anaconda, recruiting Thandiwe Newton and Steve Zahn and securing a riverboat, script, and a real snake handler. The production begins after a loan under $10,000, but the cast and crew quickly reveal their amateur status and head to the Amazon to manage problems. A genuine giant anaconda appears, turning the chaotic set into a lethal situation. Tom Gormican directed and co-wrote the project with Kevin Etten. The remake follows the original Anaconda franchise and is scheduled to open in theaters on Christmas 2025.
