28 Years Later: The Bone Temple opened in American cinemas with gore, existential terror, and surprising elements aimed at franchise fans. Ralph Fiennes plays Dr. Ian Kelson, attempting to civilize a zombie while dancing to Iron Maiden. Jack O'Connell portrays a satanic cult leader modeled on Jimmy Savile. MMA fighter Chi Lewis-Parry returns as Samson, an evolved "Alpha" zombie notable for an exceptionally large penis that became a cultural sensation after the prior film. The sequel foregrounds Samson and his prosthetic genitalia. Prosthetic supervisor Victoria Holt and special effects artist Stuart Richards described extensive planning and fabrication for the prosthetic.
