Timothée Chalamet prepared for his role in Marty Supreme by training intensively in table tennis and travelling with a table during multiple film productions. Director Josh Safdie hired coaches Diego Schaaf and former U.S. Olympian Wei Wang to elevate Chalamet's skills and act as technical advisors. Chalamet practiced through the pandemic, setting up tables in apartments and on location worldwide to emulate a world champion’s play. He worked on table tennis concurrently with other demanding role preparations and chose not to use a stunt double for the film’s table-tennis scenes.
