"I decided to create the music video like it was a personal vlog - something I could link to my own memories and look back on years from now together with my child. In line with the album's concept, I considered my animation as my own 'answer' to the interview question. I look forward to watching it with my child in the future,"
"I kept thinking about how to animate the transitions between those shots: watching the animation, then reviewing more footage, picking out what could connect, and animating those links," he says. In between these personal memories Masanbou landed on sequences that feel like we are zooming in the very cells and organisms that build everything up - fitting visuals for Max, a musician that explores the intersections of music, art and science."
Masanobu created a personal vlog-style music video by rotoscoping frame-by-frame pencil snapshots that flow as a continuous single line. The project evolved from an initial plan of random cuts into a focus on vivid personal memories, leading to the removal of many early edits. The animation centers on footage of the animator's child, with drawings built over family videos to form each frame. Transitional sequences zoom into cellular and organismal imagery to connect intimate family moments with conceptual visuals. The result blends emotive memory-driven scenes with patterns that bridge music, art and science.
