Aurora is an imaginative 10-year-old orphan terrified of a real monster under her bed. Her parents vanish one night and their bedroom is torn to pieces, convincing her the monster will come for her. She follows a mysterious, melancholy neighbor into Chinatown and watches him dispatch a team of assassins from inside a dragon dance puppet. She concludes that the neighbor, a solemn professional killer, can rid her of the monster and hires him. The neighbor is played by Mads Mikkelsen and Aurora is played by Sophia Sloan. Sigourney Weaver also appears as Laverne.
