Hunter Schafer, known for her role in Euphoria, may portray Princess Zelda in a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. Industry insider Daniel Richtman suggests she is a frontrunner for the role, which has been anticipated for the film since its announcement in 2023. Directed by Wes Ball and co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, the film is projected for a 2027 release. Schafer expressed excitement about the role, highlighting her long-standing admiration for the video game series, while no official casting details have been released.
Asked in 2024 whether she would be interested in playing the role, Schafer told Entertainment Tonight that the idea would be "so cool," adding that she was a huge fan of the series growing up. "I've seen another wave of the fan cast and everything, which is just really sweet," she said at the time. "I'm honoured that they even think of me for that."
Percy Jackson star Walker Scobell is a fan-favourite for the role of series protagonist and Hyrulean warrior, Link. He acknowledged the fan casting at the time, saying he would 'definitely consider' the part. The actor, 14 years old at the time, said to Variety he doesn't know if he would be 'interested' in the role, but would consider it if given the chance.
