Films from YouTube and Google Play are no longer available on Movies Anywhere
"If you logged into your Movies Anywhere account in the past few days, you might have noticed some titles missing from your library, specifically content purchased on Google Play and YouTube. As of October 31st, movies from either platform are no longer available on Movies Anywhere. The change was announced on a brief help page on Movies Anywhere, which simply states: "Effective 10/31/25, Google Play/YouTube will no longer participate in the Movies Anywhere program.""
"There are no further details about the reasoning behind the break-up. It appears that movies that were already synced to Movies Anywhere from a Google account are still accessible, but new purchases can't be added to the platform. Google did not respond to a request for comment. Disney, which owns Movies Anywhere, did not immediately respond to a request for comment."
As of October 31, 2025, Movies Anywhere no longer accepts movies purchased from Google Play or YouTube. Movies Anywhere states that Google Play/YouTube will no longer participate effective 10/31/25. There are no public details explaining the decision. Titles previously synced from a Google account remain available in Movies Anywhere, but new purchases from Google Play or YouTube cannot be added. Google and Disney did not provide comment in response to inquiries. Movies Anywhere had supported syncing with Google Play since 2017, and the support ended the same day several Disney-owned channels went dark on YouTube TV amid a contract renewal dispute. Google Play movies remain viewable on YouTube or Google TV.
