A Winter's Lion is a biographical film about PC Karpal Kaur Sandhu, who joined the Metropolitan Police in 1971 at age 27 after nursing work. Sandhu was born to a Sikh family in Zanzibar in 1943 and emigrated to the UK in 1962, later working at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield. She served at Hornsey and Leyton police stations before being stabbed to death by her husband in 1973, who objected to her career; he received a life sentence. Dhruv Bhatnagar directs. Producer and lead actor Dr Parvinder Shergill collaborated with Sandhu's family. Filming takes place around Hornsey and Leyton.
