Jonathan Bailey portrays Dr. Henry Loomis in Jurassic World Rebirth, emphasizing his character's deep passion for paleontology. Bailey's performance includes a heartfelt scene where he joyfully interacts with a titanosaur. Although the film deviates from Bailey's usual romantic roles, themes of yearning and emotional sincerity are central to his performances. He compares the expressions of yearning across genres, noting its significance in revealing societal constraints. This yearning reflects both value and ethical considerations in storytelling, making it a crucial element of his character motivations.
"It's so important to shamelessly show yearning. And I think yearning is a really good metric for value and for ethics as well," Bailey tells Bustle.
"In romance, you can say a lot about society and the codes and conventions and what is limiting and oppressing someone, by the way that they yearn for something that they feel they can't have," he says.
