J.J. Abrams, known for his work in film and TV, found inspiration in a simple image of a phone booth in the desert. This led him to create 'Duster', a new action/crime drama premiering on May 15 on Max. Set in 1972, the series follows Nina, the first Black female FBI agent, and Jim, a getaway driver. Together, they confront a crime syndicate in the southwest. Co-creator LaToya Morgan highlights the theme of opposites uniting amidst adversity as a central element of the storyline.
Duster is about a clash of opposites; about people from opposite worlds that come together under crazy circumstances, and are forced to work together.
All I had was the title, the vision of the phone booth and being a fan of Josh Holloway. That was when I started looking for someone to do this.
