"The trailer showcased a tongue-in-cheek (both types) sense of humour, a completely naked Skarsgård, Melling being ordered to go and buy a butt plug and the tease of some very horny power dynamics outside of the bedroom, the first look was notably missing any glimpse at what the pair might get up to between the sheets."

""Provocative, stylish, brilliant, he turns every outfit into a statement.""
Alexander Skarsgård stars in Pillion as Ray, the dominant leader of a leather biker gang, opposite Harry Melling as Colin, the naive young gay man chosen to be Ray's submissive. The film's first trailer, released 1 October, presented a tongue-in-cheek sense of humour, a completely naked Skarsgård, Melling being ordered to buy a butt plug, and hints of horny power dynamics outside the bedroom while omitting intimate bed scenes. At the Zurich Film Festival, Skarsgård promoted the film by wearing a dildo-adorned Magliano shirt depicting a lube bottle, broken phone, toilet paper and butt plugs. Magliano cites inspiration from "late 20th-century gay subculture in Bologna, as well as more traditional Italian Provincia rituals and influences." Social media responses praised the shirt and Skarsgård's look, and Skarsgård said past experiences with men and women were not relevant to creating his dominant character Ray.
