Sag-Aftra condemned the creation of the AI-generated performer Tilly Norwood and said the character was trained on countless professional performers without permission or compensation. The union opposed replacement of human performers by synthetics and said using stolen performances jeopardises livelihoods and devalues human artistry. Xicoia and Particle6 released a short film, AI Commissioner, that Particle6's CEO Eline Van Der Velden said was 100% AI generated and defended AI as a new tool akin to animation or CGI. Several actors including Melissa Barrera, Mara Wilson, Ralph Ineson and Emily Blunt voiced immediate backlash and alarm about the implications for actors and agencies.
