Samara Weaving stars as Edie, a woman who tries to leave her past as a top getaway driver but is pulled back in to help ex-boyfriend John, played by Karl Glusman. The ensemble cast also includes Andy Garcia, Mike O'Malley, Marshawn Lynch, Jermaine Fowler, Randall Park and Steve Zahn. Shawn Simmons wrote the script and makes his directorial debut with a genre-blending action-thriller that mixes action, comedy and drama. Simmons aimed to celebrate heart, heartbreak and humor and used comedy to contrast unexpected drama. Weaving learned to drive for the role and performed high-speed driving scenes with Glusman. Eenie Meanie premieres Friday on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
"Shawn's writing is so funny and witty and heartbreaking," Weaving told On The Red Carpet. "I think it's tricky to pull off all those different genres in one movie"
"It was one of the best scripts I've ever read," Weaving continued.
"It's a big thing to me that the comedy makes you not expect the drama that's coming for you at the end," he explained.
"I had no idea, much to my dismay. They put me in the car. I looked at Sam. I said, 'You got this?' She said, 'I have no idea what I'm doing'."
