"Edgar Wright would make an excellent Texas Hold'em player. I recently sat down with the movie-mad merry prankster responsible for Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Baby Driver to discuss his latest film, The Running Man. By the time the conversation ended, I still wasn't sure if he loved the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger version that preceded his or if he thought it was complete shit."
"Whatever the case, chatting with the 51-year-old Wright is always a blast, because the man loves movies. All kinds of movies. Good ones. Bad ones. Popular ones. Ones that are so obscure you're not even sure they're real. Every time I talk to the filmmaker, I walk away with a list of must-see recommendations that'll take a year to get through. So in addition to directing movies, he's a human algorithm for what we should all be checking out."
Edgar Wright would make an excellent Texas Hold'em player. He is responsible for Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and Baby Driver. He directed The Running Man, a wild, pulpy, caffeinated adaptation of Stephen King's 1982 dystopian novel originally published under the pen name Richard Bachman. The film follows Ben Richards, an out-of-work father who volunteers for a lethal reality show to buy medicine for his sick child. Glen Powell plays Richards, Josh Brolin portrays the cynical mastermind behind the show, and Colman Domingo assumes the show's flamboyant host role. The film emphasizes action, pulp thrills, and cinephilia.
