Disneyland adding the best characters to its 'Star Wars' land
""The Force Awakens" introduced now-canonical characters like Rey and Kylo Ren - and the land presented those characters in a technologically groundbreaking attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, an 18-minute show and ride hybrid that is truly a marvel to behold. But there was a huge elephant in the room - or more specifically, three huge characters missing from the whole experience."
"The land's concept, narrowly slotting into the time between the seventh and eighth movies, didn't allow for Darth Vader, Han Solo, Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker to be part of it. Finally, this spring, Disneyland is fixing that problem, and with it, many "Star Wars" park fans' biggest gripe about Galaxy's Edge. On April 29, the park is set to introduce elements of the original three movies, including those beloved characters, and selections from John Williams' iconic soundtrack."
Galaxy's Edge originally placed guests on Batuu just after The Force Awakens, focusing on seventh-movie-era characters and settings. The land showcased new canon figures like Rey and Kylo Ren and the technologically groundbreaking Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, an 18-minute show-and-ride hybrid. The park's narrow timeline excluded Darth Vader, Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, leaving a gap in original trilogy representation. Disneyland will add elements from the original trilogy on April 29, including those characters and selections from John Williams' soundtrack. Updates will span multiple eras of Batuu and enable experiences of the Galactic Civil War.
