Degrassi's Co-Creator Doesn't Want Us to See the Degrassi Documentary

Schuyler says she was interviewed twice for the film but was not informed of or asked to comment on Amanda Stepto's and Stacie Mistysyn's allegations that they earned $50 per day as child actors. Schuyler contends the documentary will lead viewers to believe she profited at the expense of an underpaid cast and denies that storylines were stolen from actors' lives. She asserts child performers were paid well above union rates and received training, counseling, and retirement-plan contributions. The film is scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13.
