"Charli xcx's 2026 big screen onslaught is set to kick off with The Moment, a mockumentary starring the musician as a self-described hell version of herself. The film, based on an idea by the Grammy winner, is fiction but xcx has called it the realest depiction of the music industry that I've ever seen. She added in a Vanity Fair interview: It's not a tour documentary or a concert film in any way, but the seed of the idea was conceived from this idea of being pressured to make one."
"The Moment is directed and co-written by her collaborator Aidan Zamiri who has said the film is based around a version of reality where the singer made entirely different choices during the the promotion of her smash hit album Brat. The film also stars Rachel Sennott, Alexander Skarsgard, Kate Berlant and Kylie Jenner. It's one of many upcoming big screen projects to feature the star who has already appeared this year in three festival films: friendship drama Erupcja and satirical comedy thriller Sacrifice, which both premiered at the Toronto film festival, and queer fairytale 100 Nights of Hero, which was unveiled at Venice."
"The next year will also see her alongside Olivia Wilde in erotic drama I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in art world thriller The Gallerist and Barbie Ferreira in horror remake Faces of Death. She also recently signed on to appear in Dakota Johnson's as yet unfilmed directorial debut A Tree in Blue. I am really enjoying my acting journey, she said to Variety. I feel very, very inspired at the moment in that field, I feel unbelievably creative, and I only ever want to do things that inspire me and make me feel energized. February will also see the release of Emerald Fennell's adaptation of Wuthering Heights which will feature new music from xcx."
