American singer and talk-show host Kelly Clarkson says Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley were 'captivating' in new film

""We would do that at the end of the day to kind of just remind ourselves that it's not real, that its pretend and that everybody is safe and happy," said Mescal, who received an Oscar nomination in 2023 for his role in the film Aftersun."

Kelly Clarkson wept alone in a Las Vegas room while watching the film Hamnet and described the performances as captivating and enchanting. The film adapts Maggie O'Farrell's novel through Chloé Zhao and follows William Shakespeare and formative experiences, notably the death of his son Hamnet. Actors discussed preparing for heavy sections of the film and decompressing afterward by dancing to Rihanna to remind themselves the story is pretend and that everyone remained safe. Paul Mescal and Buckley will attend the Irish premiere in Dublin before the film's Irish release on 9 January 2026.
