Amber Heard has largely removed herself from the public eye following the 2022 defamation trial loss to Johnny Depp. Heard participated in Silenced, a documentary that premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and focuses on human rights lawyer Jennifer Robinson's fight against the weaponization of defamation laws used to silence survivors of gender violence. Robinson represented Heard in the 2018 U.K. trial in which Depp sued The Sun. Heard experienced intense cyberbullying, described a loss of ability to speak publicly, and framed her experience as an amplified version of what many women endure during public allegations and litigation. The film was directed by Selina Miles.
