Amanda Seyfried "couldn't breathe sometimes" while rehearsing for 'The Testament of Ann Lee'
""I couldn't breathe sometimes. To be able to sing live, dance, perform. It was hard, but I love that challenge.""
""I knew that I needed someone who was just willing to just completely give themselves to this performance.""
""To see Amanda make such an ambitious project on this scale, it's impressive and inspiring.""
Amanda Seyfried portrays Ann Lee, the founding leader of the 18th-century Shaker Movement, in The Testament of Ann Lee. Seyfried described intense physical and vocal preparation, citing long hours of rehearsal and moments when she "couldn't breathe sometimes." Director Mona Fastvold said Seyfried worked on choreography almost a year before shooting and sought a performer willing to fully commit. Composer Daniel Blumberg praised the project's ambition on a large scale. The film features over 100 minutes of music and dance depicting Ann Lee's quest for utopia and opens in select theaters this Christmas. Searchlight Pictures is part of The Walt Disney Company.
