"I always was interested in doing another Star Wars, I had been talking about doing another one since 2021. [Lucasfilm] had reached out. I always said: With a great director and a great story, I'd be there in a second. I loved [Kylo Ren] and loved playing him."
"A full script was written by Scott Z. Burns and described as "one of the coolest (expletive) scripts I had ever been a part of.""
"We took it to [Disney CEO] Bob Iger and [Disney co-chairman] Alan Bergman, and they said no. They didn't see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that. It was called The Hunt for Ben Solo, and it was really cool. But it is no more, so I can finally talk about"
Adam Driver, Steven Soderbergh, and Rebecca Blunt created an outline for a Star Wars film set after The Rise of Skywalker centered on Ben Solo. Lucasfilm approved the outline and hired Scott Z. Burns to write a full script that received high praise. Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman rejected the project because Ben Solo's on-screen death in the previous film made his survival implausible. The project was tentatively titled The Hunt for Ben Solo and was shelved. Interest in returning to the character dated to 2021, and the Kylo Ren role remained a significant creative attraction.
