The Academy revealed 2026 shortlists for nominees in categories including Best Original Song and Best Original Score. The Best Original Song lineup moved from 65 eligible songs to a shortlist of 15, which includes the 2025 hit "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters' fictional girl group HUNTR/X. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross appear again on both the Best Original Song and Best Original Score shortlists for their work as Nine Inch Nails on TRON: Ares, with "As Alive As You Need Me" listed. Wicked: For Good and Sinners each placed two songs on the Best Original Song shortlist. Other shortlisted songs include tracks by Nick Cave, Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Sara Bareilles, and Billy Idol with J. Ralph.
