The original franchise delivered two sequels, an animated spinoff, and a theme-park attraction but lost momentum through missteps and recasting. Universal is now pursuing a revival by bringing Fraser and Weisz back as Rick and Evelyn O'Connell. The new installment is set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, who will follow their Ready or Not: Here I Come film due in 2026.
