"Zara, so many tastemakers' go-to for easy, affordable fashion, is turning 50. And to celebrate, the Spanish brand is tapping 50 influential style mavens from across the globe to design a product, on sale October 6. Think: a reincarnated Anna Sui look from 1994 (garter belt included!); a pair of keepsake boxes by Kate Moss; luggage by Christy Turlington. At AD we're most excited about several of the home items, including Marc Newson's rainbow of hand blown glass tumblers,"
""I love the idea that a dishware set can be crafted in large quantities, yet retain individual variation, and be distributed to households throughout the world in a way that a unique sculpture cannot," the artist told AD PRO, recalling the Dutch Delft dishes and West German pottery his mother packed into their suitcases when the family moved from the Netherlands to the United States in the 1970s, alongside cups that she made herself."
Zara turns 50 and is commissioning 50 influential style figures worldwide to each design a product available October 6. Offerings range from fashion throwbacks—an Anna Sui 1994 reincarnation with a garter belt—to keepsake boxes by Kate Moss and luggage by Christy Turlington. Home items include Marc Newson's rainbow hand-blown glass tumblers, Axel Vervoordt's square plate, and Sterling Ruby's yellow-and-black splatterware. Sterling Ruby is releasing a six-piece place setting of plates, bowl, and cup priced at $219. Ruby recalls Dutch Delft and West German pottery from his mother's suitcases and frames the pieces as nods to the intimate feelings household objects can evoke.
