Rachel Zoe on the Time She Was Held at Customs Because of Her Luggage-and Her Top Packing Tips
""If it were up to me, I'd take everything I own on the plane. Admittedly, I am an over-packer," she told T+L. "It's also just being a stylist for my whole adult life, you know? All I ever think of is having options and not having the thing you want or not having the thing you need. But when I'm packing for clients or friends, I'm very strategic, and when I'm packing for myself, I'm not strategic at all.""
"She decided to strategically ship her luggage ahead of time for a trip to Sedona, but her luggage was delayed by almost an entire day, which meant she showed up in the dry heat wearing a black suede jacket, black pants, and a black cowboy hat in 110 degrees with nothing to change into. "That was not ideal. Not sure what I was thinking there," she said."
Rachel Zoe built a career as a celebrity stylist for clients such as Nicole Richie, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Hudson, and Jennifer Garner and became known for a boho-chic aesthetic. She launched The Rachel Zoe Project, The Rachel Zoe Collection, and Rachel Zoe Ventures. Zoe routinely packs designer gowns and plans strategically when preparing clients' wardrobes, but she confesses to over-packing for her own trips and rarely uses only a carry-on. She sometimes ships luggage ahead, and a delayed shipment left her stuck in inappropriate clothing in Sedona until her bags arrived the next morning.
