Hermès presents 'Mystery at the Grooms' at Pier 36, creating an immersive theater that challenges conventional views on luxury. This conceptual playground highlights the craftsmanship behind the brand, inviting visitors to engage deeply with the artistry of each métier, from leatherwork to silk. The experience reinterprets the horse—a symbol of the brand—highlighting themes of precision, knowledge, and enduring quality. Artistic Director Pierre-Alexis Dumas emphasizes play as a core element of creativity, asking guests to observe the nuanced dialogue between objects, transcending mere fashion voyeurism.
There is no single protagonist here. Instead, there are sixteen: the métiers that comprise the DNA of Hermès, each one summoned to animate this immersive narrative.
At the heart of the mystery is the horse, Hermès's eternal emblem, here reinterpreted as metaphor, symbolizing elegance in motion and continuity through care.
‘Play is movement, freedom, imagination, fantasy, lightness,’ says Artistic Director Pierre-Alexis Dumas, emphasizing the horse as a companion in the playground of creation.
Objects appear animated by both their exquisite making and by the way they speak to one another across time, inviting deeper observation.
