Miu Miu Finds Strength in the Human Body
"I am obsessed with the smallness of the body - in a human sense. The contrast between ourselves, our bodies and the vastness of that which surrounds us. A confrontation between a human and the expansiveness of the world."
"A natural response would be to pump up the volume of the clothes to fill that space, as many other designers did in a season of big shoulders and bold silhouettes, but Prada did precisely the opposite. She unloaded."
"The silhouette, however, was still bold, the body strikingly bare, delineated in smushed-up, boiled cashmeres, scrunched and faux grease-smeared linens and stretch cotton poplin washed dozens of times to give its surface a crêpe-y pilling."
Miuccia Prada explored philosophical themes of human scale and cosmic vastness in the Miu Miu Autumn/Winter 2026 collection. The show space at Palais d'Iéna featured an indoor forest with moss, bracken, and brocade-covered columns, creating an overwhelming environment. Rather than amplifying clothing to match the grand setting, Prada did the opposite, creating tight, minimal silhouettes for all genders. Garments featured stripped-down details with occasional sweet touches like cockeyed bows referencing lingerie. Fabrics included boiled cashmeres, scrunched linens, and heavily washed cotton poplin with crepe-like textures. The collection referenced Miu Miu's early 2000s heritage through chunky, deliberately unflattering shoes including crystal-crusted hiking boot hybrids and glitter-covered block heels.
