Longchamp Marks a New Chapter With Pierre Renart
Briefly

Longchamp has transitioned from a leather pipe maker to a prominent fashion brand, recently entering the furniture market with designer Pierre Renart. The new collection features nine pieces, including the Wave leather bench and Ruban chairs, debuting at Milan Design Week. These pieces reflect Renart's artistic vision, combining supple leather with sculpted walnut, while embodying movement and fluidity. The collaboration builds on previous designs and highlights Longchamp’s commitment to craftsmanship and innovative design. Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine emphasizes the blend of materials aimed to add a signature identity to the collection.
These designs are all Pierre's work, but we challenged him on a single point: to ensure that – even with the combination of wood and leather – the pieces looked as light and fluid as if they had been executed in wood alone.
In reality, Renart meticulously assembles ultra-thin pieces of wood, bending them into sinuous, fluid shapes. That sense of movement was the only creative direction Longchamp provided.
