Living Dolls
"This shoot was conceived as a study of a doll-like state. From the very beginning, we wanted to step away from conventional fashion narratives and create a world where the models exist as modern dolls. Their static, posed postures are intentional: they echo the stiffness of collectable figures, objects of desire that are admired, styled, and imagined rather than lived through."
"Make up plays a crucial role in reinforcing this idea. It is deliberately artificial, almost mask-like, enhancing the feeling of unreality and emotional distance. Together with the poses, it blurs the line between the living body and an object. Our approach to styling pieces by Katsiaryna Mikhailava was driven by a desire to look at the garments from an unusual angle."
The shoot presents models as modern dolls with intentionally static, posed postures that echo the stiffness of collectable figures and objects of desire. Makeup is deliberately artificial and mask-like, enhancing unreality and emotional distance while blurring the line between living body and object. Styling prioritized fabric, cut, and construction over runway references, allowing silhouettes and textures to dictate mood and steering visuals toward a surreal fantasy shaped by materials rather than trends. KnitToChange contributed a balaclava that complements the doll-like aesthetic and aligns with sustainable, one-of-a-kind design practices.
