'One of the hardest decisions of my life' - Dro Fernandez speaks out on decision to leave Barcelona for PSG
"Hello Barça fans, I arrived at La Masia when I was just fourteen years old, dreaming of one day wearing the Barça first team shirt. After almost four unforgettable seasons, today I have to make one of the hardest decisions of my life: to say goodbye to the club that has been my home for the last few years."
"I leave behind many friendships, lessons learned, and memories that will always be with me. I will be eternally grateful to everyone at the club and, especially, to my teammates, for every moment we shared on and off the pitch. It's difficult to put into words everything I feel for this club and this city, which I will always carry in my heart."
"Although I'm taking a different path today, I will continue to support and cheer you on like any other fan, wherever I am. Barça and La Masia have not only been part of my journey, but they will live forever within me. Thank you for everything. Long live Barça and long live Catalonia, always."
Dro Fernandez joined La Masia at fourteen and rose to Barcelona's first team, spending almost four seasons with the senior side. He informed coach Hansi Flick in January that he wanted to leave, a move that surprised the club as he sought more first-team minutes. Fernandez completed a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, signing a deal until 2030 and selecting the No. 27 shirt at Parc des Princes. He published a farewell on Instagram, called the choice one of the hardest decisions of his life, and expressed eternal gratitude to teammates, staff, friends, and the city. Fernandez pledged continued support for Barça and La Masia despite taking a different career path.
