
"The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has officially confirmed that FC Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been handed a one-match ban after his red card against Real Madrid. Barcelona midfielder was sent off in the 90th minute of the Super Cup final for a foul committed on Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe. The refereeing decision, taken by the on-field official Jose Luis Munuera Montero and not overturned by VAR, Daniel Jesus Trujillo Suarez, has now earned the Netherlands international a single-match suspension."

The on-field referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero issued the sending off and VAR official Daniel Jesus Trujillo Suarez did not overturn the decision. The sole judge for non-professional competitions imposed a one-match suspension and an additional fine under Article 52. Article 56 requires that suspensions from the Spanish Super Cup be served in subsequent matches and bars access to the field, bench and dressing room for the duration. De Jong will miss Barcelona's Copa del Rey Round of 16 tie at Racing Santander and will be available for the following La Liga match against Real Sociedad.
