Atletico Madrid denied receiving a €100 million offer from Barcelona for Argentina international Julián Álvarez. Reports said Barcelona made the bid shortly after agreeing a fee with Newcastle for Anthony Gordon. Atletico responded that nothing is happening and characterized the claim as false. A club source said that if an offer arrived, it would not be accepted because Álvarez is not for sale. Despite Atletico’s stance, Barcelona were reported to be considering raising their offer to €135 million with variables. Barcelona and Álvarez were also said to want the transfer agreed before the start of the World Cup.
