Barcelona superstar will resume training next week to get ready for Espanyol clash | Barca Universal
"FC Barcelona played their final game of 2025 this past Sunday, defeating Villarreal 2-0 away from home at Estadio de La Ceramica. The Blaugrana did so without one of their most important players in Pedri, as he missed the game due to mild muscular discomfort, as confirmed by the club. The midfielder picked up the issue during the Copa del Rey tie against CD Guadalajara and was unable to train with the group leading up to the Villarreal trip."
"Now, according to journalist Laia Tudel on Catalunya Radio, Pedri will be back training with the rest of the Barcelona squad next week, with the aim of being ready to face RCD Espanyol in the team's first game of 2026. Barcelona players are currently on a week-long vacation during the mid-season break, and the plan is for the squad to reconvene for training next Monday, 29 December."
FC Barcelona beat Villarreal 2-0 away at Estadio de La Ceramica in their final match of 2025. Pedri missed that game due to mild muscular discomfort sustained during the Copa del Rey tie against CD Guadalajara and he was unable to train with the group ahead of the Villarreal trip. Pedri is expected to resume training with the squad on Monday 29 December so he can be fit for the Catalan derby against RCD Espanyol on 3 January. Barcelona describe the issue as minor and say his absence was largely a precaution. Ronald Araujo is also hoped to return to training next week after taking time off for mental health reasons.
